Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Verizon Center!
The Washington Capitals, nicknamed the "Caps", are a team that was welcomed into the NHL in 1974. The Caps have never won the Stanley Cup, but they have made it there once, back in 1998. In the 1997 season, their home was the Capital Centre, but soon moved to the Verizon Center in Washington, DC. In the 2009-10 season, they won their first ever President's Trophy. It has been rumored that Alexander Ovechkin, their captain, might sign with the KHL (Team Russia). Will Ovechkin take the Caps to the Cup next season, or will they have to find a new captain?
